First President

One of the charter members Clarence C. Shaffer was the clubs first president and was the principal of the Confluence High School.  He lived to the age of 104.  At his death on May 29. 1999, he concluded a long life of active community service.  He resided in Florida in his later years and his 100th birthday was celebrated by taking a hot air balloon ride.  His wife who was 96 joined him on that ride.  They had been married 75 years when she died in 1998.
